how much would you pay someone to help you move house (use their van & them?)?
We are moving house and we need a van for the fridge, beds etc.
The local company is charging £65 for using the van all day, but you put your own fuel and drive it yourself.
There is a friend of a friend who has a van and said he could help BUT he wont say a price. I want to pay less than the commercial company BUT he is driving it & fuel etc so I dont want to rip him off – whats a fair price?
well if he is putting in fuel and helping you carry stuff ….depending on how many hours he will spend with you i’d say give him £10 an hour and load up as quick as poss’
If the van is his and there isn’t to much fuel cost and time involved driving and loading i’d say two loads i’d say pay him no less then £40
if it his own van and there is only one load(less then 2hours work) i’d say £25 if less then 5-10 mile trip
thats just my personal ideas I may be far off the mark of other people opinions of course and take into consideration mates rates,and besides if he won’t tell you how much he wants and you give less thats his own fault for not telling you when you gave him the opportunity
