Toyota Kenosha Dealer Feels 2011 Sienna May Be Just What You And Your Family Need

Moving away from that stereotypical mini van image, the 2011 Sienna is described by some as looking and driving more like a sedan. In fact, one wacky internet commercial for the Sienna has a “cool” young couple hauling their kids around town as they sing the praises of the new Sienna. The nerdy dad even has a nickname for it – his “swagger wagon”.

Cheesy as all this may sound, the 2011 Sienna is sleeker than any mini van to hit the market so far. With a sport SE model complete with side skirting, 19-inch alloy wheels which come standard, smoked tail lights and a sport-tuned suspension it comes off as stylish and fun. Add to that superior safety features, a roomy interior and a more fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine and it totals a hip-to-be-square ride. Toyota Kenosha dealers hope this model will have a wide appeal.

Standard is the four-cylinder engine with a 187-hp 2.7-liter gets 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Also available is a 3.5-liter V6 averaging 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Both have a six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers of Antioch used cars will appreciate the fuel efficiency of this family vehicle.

With five grades from a base Sienna to a Limited, with LE, SE and XLE in between, the Sienna come with some fun options. A rear-seat Dual View Entertainment Center which uses side-by-side displays to create one 16.4-inch wide screen is capable of splitting into two individual screens which can use input from separate sources. Seen from the third seat, it can be operated from anywhere in the vehicle.

Gurnee used car dealers have a wide selection of safe pre-owned vehicles, including mini vans. Of course even a “cool” mini van needs safety features and the Sienna has seven standard airbags. The frame is a bit wider and shorter and the drive is smoother, handling more like a car than a mini van. ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution, traction and stability control and brake assist are all standard as well. There is also the addition of a 180-degree panoramic camera to work while backing up in conjunction with the voice-activated DVD-based navigation system.

Deeply cushioned captain’s chairs are standard and comfortable. Weighing 49 pounds each, they can be removed to allow for large transports. Seat bottoms also tilt up and slide forward up to 25 inches for easy access to the third seat.

Optional second-row captain’s chairs, weighing in at 75 pounds, boast lounge seating and footrests. That’s right, footrests. Dad won’t argue about who drives this mini van. He will be content to kick back in the second row. Third row seats can be stowed and retrieved with one hand, or substitute the power-operated third row seat.

Dealers of Gurnee used cars remind customers that some upgrade models also have options like a pre-collision system, radar-based cruise control, emergency assistance button, roadside assistance and stolen vehicle location. Toyota also is hinting that a gasoline/electric hybrid mini van is in the works. Won’t that make for an interesting YouTube commercial? Toyota seems to have the formula for today’s jaded mini van buyers. One Toyota designer identified it as “cool, comfort and convenience”. Cost may be the fourth “c” that determines whether we are willing to put aside our aversion to mini vans. Sienna ranges from $24,260 to $39,770. It appears Toyota has truly come up with something for every budget and every lifestyle. Swagger on!

Why 12 and 15 Passenger Vans are Unsafe

Driving 15-passenger vans take much more training than a shuttle bus. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, on July 15th, they determined that 15-passenger vans are unstable when loaded with 10 or more people.

It is recommended by the NTSB that drivers of 15-passenger vans require more training and testing. The fact is, these vans handle different than cars and require a higher skill level.

The reason why this has become an issue is because of the passenger vans latest track records. In 2001, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that these vans, with 10 or more passengers, are three times as likely to roll than a van with less than 10 passengers.

One report in 2002, released by the NTSB proved that 52% of 15-passenger vans involved in single-vehicle, fatal accidents from 1991-2000 rolled over. Under the same conditions, cars rolled over only 33 percent of the time.

This data has prompted many churches to switch from passenger vans to shuttle buses and has even led many bus companies that specialize in 15-passenger vans sales toward churches to halt their sales and sell safer vehicles.

One such company in Tennessee, who once provided many churches with 15-passenger vans, has been phasing them out for years. Instead of selling them as passenger vans, the seats have been taken out and they were sold as delivery or cargo vans. This company now sells commercial buses, which most often require CDL licenses. Buses are far less likely to roll compared to 15-passenger vans.

These vans were never really designed to be passenger vans. Their original purpose was for cargo as a cheaper alternative. People are not cargo and deserve safer transportation.

The commercial bus is the safer, more comfortable alternative to the 15-passenger van. Passengers enter the bus and walk down an aisle instead of finagle their way into a passenger van. Passengers can even have the options of reading lights and overhead storage which provide more room for luggage and leave passengers in good thought rather than cramped thoughts and safety concerns.

Do I need to know anything special buying a Step Van?

Before I buy it, I need to know if a big Chevy Step Van would need a special license to drive since it is classified as a commercial van? I can get insurance on it for recreational use though through my agent as I called them ahead of time.
Also, can I take it to any normal place to get it inspected?
I guess a state would be good to include, I Live in PA!

Regular dr. lic. is fine (( what state do you live in at )) probably best to use a garage that has a tall door and a phone call to the inspection place you want to use is easier than the drive to the mechanic store.

can i insure van on somebody else that doesn’t work for me?

i’m planning to go self employed and get a van open some delivery company. due to my age(i’m 21) the insurance for commercial use will be very high. Can I sing it on my father then insure it on him(he is selfemployed too) and then make me a second driver? will this be legal? do i have to pay anything extra etc?

Yes, but it wouldn’t decrease your premium much, if any, because you would still be listed on the policy, and you would only be allowed to list yourself as secondary if you truly were.
